I'm Bretheren, and I celebrate Christmas. All of my friends are protestant, and they celebrate Christmas. I have a few Jewish friends, and they all celebrate Hanukkah. Therefore, I believe Christmas is a general Christian holliday. And it's not always about the gifts, at least where I live.

Other as I'm Pagan and it's Yule for me. Though, I do call it Christmas as I am used to calling it such, and many of the songs I was raised with are songs about Christ. For me, it's a time of giving and fellowship, as it seems humanity can't seem to all function in this mode of thinking all year long, it reminds us once a year to kind to one another. It is for everyone, whatever name we put to it.

Christmas: The day for people to sit around a tree covered in lights and ornaments, sing silly little songs and act like everything is great and dandy, and smile at one another. Buy overly priced presents, stress about getting it done and standing in the ridiculously long lines at the stores, go out to eat and see relatives you see once a year and act like you know them, when you have no idea who they are or how they are even related to you other than they are on your dad's/mother's side of the family. You might get a bonus check and have extra money, or you get to stress about not having enough money, but not wanting to seem cheap. It's just another day to buy presents that you can wrap in paper and hand to someone saying how much thought you put into picking out a mass produced object and how much you think they'll love it.

Wait, that's not my christmast this year. it's going to be like any other regular day, no dectorations, no presents, and staying trapped in my room for fear of my parents suddenly having a screaming match, or my dad deciding to start throwing stuff around and coming up with some lame excuse about "how it is to show someone who it feels to have their stuff violated".

Gotta love the beginning of Divorces around holidays. Lies upon lies to be told all around! Thank you dad for the wonderful last Christmas together you promised we'd have.

Sorry about the rant, but Christmas just sucks. I get sick normally around it and am stuck in my own house alot, and this year on top of being sick (and not getting to sit around house, but working) my parents are goign to get a divorce and my dad is having a melt down about it and just being cruel to everyone he feels has taken 'my mom's side'.

I view it in as a christian holiday myself, and get a little annoyed when people tell me I cant call it christmas....but I think it's for everyone to make the world a little more happy around the end of the year. The idea of "spreading joy" makes me feel fluffy knowing that people are taking the idea to heart and being a little bit more kind than usual :3

So, even if you're not christian, celebrate and be merry, all you wonderful people cause we don't discriminate against people having a good time xD

In my country, Christmas has lost its true meaning, so it doesn't really matter any more.
