Dude you're body, even if you are religious isn't going anywhere its going to stay here and be destroyed, so I waste all those organs when you could save someone's life. I'm donating all mine

i say not.
i wouldn't mind given my organs. if i chose to.

but what if, some one with no ID on them just dies, has a heart attack.
nobody knows his name, where he lives, his family.
and because of the 'assumed to be an organ donor' thing it will mean by the time this heart attack guys family find out what happened and where his body is. the only thing lift will be juast a few bones. everything else will have been taken away even his eyes, skin and the stuff inside his bones with out their consent.

man i'm ranting

I voted yes on it being that you should have 'opt-out'. Unless you do have religious or ethical issues regarding organ donorship, then why not? When you're dead, you're not going to need them, so why not let them go on to be of some use if they're going to help someone?

Cant believe im posting this when i should be on my way to workk.. But pfft.
I WILL appologise now for any offence i may cause, but i am only voicing my opinion. Dont gut me for it.

Im not sure in the way of things. I mean, people should (im not forcing anyone) donate organs. I mean, if someone was dieing and needed a kidney and someone else has passed on. No offence intended to ANYONE but... they dont NEED their kidney anymore. So it should be given up.
But in the same respect, if someone needed a lung, and i died **knocks on every piece of wood in the house** they wouldn't want MY lungs. Yeah, ive quit smoking. But the damage has already been done.

Also, if someone close to me passed on i dont think id like someone cutting them up and takingtheir organs out.

VANCHA'S CONFUSED!

I think that organ donations are very important, and besides, it isn't as though we need our organs when we're dead... I think that people who think of organ donations, blood donations, and things of the like are most responsible for the number of the terminally ill who die. We need more people to release their kidneys, livers, hearts, eyes, and whatever other organs to the hospitals upon death.

I think it would be easier for people to be assumed a donor, until the point where they become a member of a religion which disagrees with organ donations, if they have a terminal disease, or can provide a reason why their organs are too good to be used after this person's death...

Reason I say no, is because some people had blood transfusions before 1985, before they started screaning blood for things like HIV and the such. Because my mum had a blood transfusion before I was born she can't give blood, and neither can my sister or I, and the same goes for the doning of Organs. I would if I could, but I think it's better to be safe then sorry.

I imagine there are some kind of medical history checks as well as tests on organs to assure that the NHS aren't taking organs from potentially dangerous donors, whether they have consented to it or not. It'd be silly not to, considering the fact that, whether you've had a transfusion or not, you can still have HIV or a plethora of other potential illnesses.

True, very true, but they do like to be on the safe side and have asked in the past that those who had blood transfusions not to become organ donners. I would donate my organs, if 'I' was sure that I wasn't going to potentially pass something on to some unexpectedly. Weather I be dead or alive, right now, the thought is uncomfortable for me to think about.
