MCM Expo and Metrocon Cosplay Plans-------But first...-------
My Portal Gun arrived 8D
Not 100% happy, as there is some manufacturing damage to it (an issue it seems several people have discovered), but I got myself a partial refund from the seller, and I believe I can fix it up just fine. So, all in all, can't complain too much! Will be bringing it along to Expo for my Portal costume :)

A bunch of us will be there this weekend, so feel free to bounce on over and say hello! On Saturday, we'll be doing Dragon Age costumes, and I'll be getting changed into my Portal costume later in the day.
On Sunday, I'll be in one of my Twi'lek costumes, and Jenn will likely be in civvies, taking pictures.

This is now the finalised timetable. The other panel slots offered to us didn't work with our plans, so this is what we're doing:

Halfway to 100I don't want to be one of those people who jumps up every month like "WE'VE BEEN DATING FOR 13/26/39 MONTHS!", but...
Jenn and I have been together for 50 months as of today. I think that's a number worthy of mentioning.
To celebrate (and to make reading this worth your while), have a picture of Keith and Ellis (Jenn and I) pestering Nick (Becki):
Stupid Maple SyrupI was quite happy being asleep. But no, some blood Canadian thought it would be best to phone me. Not to mention phone me while impersonating me. *twinfools is mental, I would like it to be known.
And what's worse? There's three of them in total, not just one, zooming down the road towards the house right now.
I told Kelly to take them back to the airport and leave them where she found them. She wouldn't listen to me.
Devious Journal EntryI just suffered shock at advice I saw being given to a convention goer of how to keep her energy levels up while at a convention...
- Hold soda in your mouth for a few seconds before swallowing it, as your mouth absorbs the sugars quicker
- Drink OJ with sugar added to it
- Honey sticks
Basically, the advice given was "SUGAR, AND LOTS OF IT!"
God.
I don't know what people are taught about health in the USA, but clearly it's VERY different to the UK. People, PLEASE don't live on sugar at a convention! Not only is it bad for your teeth, but bad for your health, and it's NOT the best source of energy there is!
Eating regularly and healthily, especially wholemeals, will provide you with a much healthier and long-lasting source of energy. Sure, you may get a brief rush from a Red Bull, but you'll have a crash as well. I know none of us take the best care of ourselves at cons, but at least TRY to get in a decent breakfast, lunch and dinner. And drink plenty of water!!

Four Years AgoFour years ago, something happened that completely changed the course of my life in a very real, very noticeable way.
On the 19th of January 2008, I hadn't really intended to do anything to make my life change so drastically. There was no plan, no preconception, nothing. Things just happened the way they happened, and I wouldn't change it for the world.
On the night of the 19th of January 2008, `tealpirate and I started going out.
From that day on, my life was changed. I'd gone from a previously unhappy relationship to one I now was full of hope, excitement and expectation. My previous relationship had me feeling worn out, disillusioned and unhappy by three years or so into the relationship, yet with Jenn, I'm four years in, and still as crazily in love as the day I met her.

Some people complain about him because he hasn't kept every single one of his election pledges.
People dislike the man for a variety of reasons.
I think he's amazing.
Why?
Because he is pro-Equal Rights.
This journal is for nothing more than to say how happy I am that, finally, a president of the United States has boldly stepped forward and declared his support for same-sex marriages. He could have easily avoided this issue until after the election race was over, but he made the decision to be up-front and honest in advance. I respect that in a politician so very, very much.
So thank you, Obama. I sincerely hope people listen to you, and learn what it truly means to treat your fellow man as "equal".
Anime Revolution Review + Avatar VideoAnime Revolution ended a few days ago and I'm still riding that con high! In my opinion it was a stellar con with a really clean and professional atmosphere/vibe. It was the con's first year, but to me it ran (and looked) like a much more experienced con. I've heard a lots of criticism of the con, but not from the people I ran into at the con itself. Everyone I came across seemed to be in really good spirits and had a positive opinion of the con. I know that there are some tensions are Vancouver cons at the moment, but in my opinion the more the better! I'm not going to side with one con or another, to me that'd be silly, I want all the cons to succeed cause if my hometown was con central than I'd never be bored!!! WHICH IS AWESOME!

Well, that was a varied set of results! I'll be honest and say they don't entirely surprise me, not due to the legitimacy/illegitimacy of psychics... but because of my audience here on deviantART.
Most of the people who follow me and vote in my polls are young adults and teenagers, who are all part of an art website, and so can be assumed to be creatively minded and imaginative. As such, predisposition towards the possibility of psychics seems reasonably likely. If I were to post the same discussion on a psychology forum, or a science forum, I imagine the results would have been very different.
I noticed a strong trend in "psychic-believers" that their belief tended to stem from a single experience with a psychic, in which they or someone they knew received a very accurate or shocking reading that they couldn't logically explain. My only comment on that, is to not base
Alcon 2012What an amazing con. It topped last year's Alcon (hence the chant buzzing around the con "Best Alcon Ever") and I was just so happy to be a part of that and meet so many amazing people that my Facebook literally exploded after the con ended. EXPLODED WITH MANLY RELISH THAT IS. On Friday, we will be in our Left 4 Dead costumes all day, apart from the Late Night Party, where we'll be changing into the costumes for our new show! *insert fireworks and excitement here*

On Saturday, we'll be in the Marauders until our panel ends at 3pm. After that, Jenn and I (and the others, if they want to!) will be swapping into our L4D costumes again for the Changing Faces panel.

On Sunday, we'll likely be in civilian clothing (unless we feel up to wearing L4D all day, or decide to wear our SECRET COSTUMES that get revealed on Friday), changing into manry stuffs for Changing Faces.

When not in panels, we'll be hanging out with you lovely lot around the convention centre, or trawling through the artists alley/dealers room. I'll be on the lookout for anything Iron Man or Portal-ish 8D

It's my birthday on Sunday.
Do not want age D8

I'll be turning 25, which is halfway to 50, which is scary. I miss being 23. That was a good age...

Anyways, I'm seeing Blink 182 on Friday with ~chimocho and her fiance, then seeing all the other Parlé derps on Saturday for lols and Nandos. Sunday I'll be with the family.

I've had a few PM's from people asking to draw birthday pictures, or asking if they can get me gifts. For those who are wondering (and to answer all those messages in a single go), if you DO want to give/make something for my birthday, I'd love...

- Llama and cake badges via deviantART.
- Art relating to Iron Man, Portal, L4D2, Red vs Blue, HP Marauders and Parlé in general
- Iron Man goodies at Metrocon
- And, for those of you without artsy skills, or who aren't going to Metrocon, just a message on my main dA page saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and with a line or two about how you WOULD celebrate my birthday with me, if we were to be hanging out for the day. That'd be pretty awesome too ^_^

I haven't been looking forward to turning 25, but I bet you lot will make it a happier experience :)

Hey Kelly hope you had a great birthday and I hope that the portal earrings got to you. I would have loved to give them to you myself but we had to leave asap on Sunday for a 11 hour drive back home. Also if you don't wear earrings there is a chain in there that you can make them into a keychain. Anyways I hope you like them, it is just a small present to help you know how much you mean to me and my friend.

Kelly I hate that I didn't get to see you on Sunday ((Saw you the other two days)) but we had to get back to NC, I hope you like the portal earrings, if you don't wear earrings there is a keychain chain in there that you can make a keychain with them. Anyways thanks so much for being so epic. You and the rest of Parle made mine and my friend's week! From the first day to the last and I hope you had half as much fun as I did.
