Hey all!
For those who haven't seen our latest video on Youtube, or check the blog on our NEW WEBSITE (www.parleproductions.webs.com), we're doing a new fundraiser !
Jenn and I, together with several others from our group, will be attempting a "24+ Hours Of Gaming" fundraiser, starting 6th April 2012, in support of the charity SpecialEffect!
WHO ARE SPECIALEFFECT?
"SpecialEffect is a charity dedicated to helping ALL young people with disabilities to enjoy computer games. For these children, the majority of computer games are simply too quick or too difficult to play, and we can help them and their parents to find out which games they CAN play, and how to adapt those games that they can't."
To see an example of the work SpecialEffect do, watch this video, showing Ella and Chloe, able to enjoy games thanks to the help of the SpecialEffect team! [link]
WHAT ARE WE DOING TO HELP?
Starting on the 6th April 2012 Jenn and I, with the help of other Parlé members, are going to be gaming for a solid 24 hours minimum, streaming as much as we can of the event! This'll be a series of online games, such as Left 4 Dead 2, Portal and Minecraft, though if we lose connection to the web, we do have an Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS available as back-up.
We have spoken to several medical sources about this event, and have been advised to do this in shifts of 4-6 hours at a time, and will be following that advice. Jenn and I will play in turns, with other Parlé members also gaming with us!
As well as a chat room and webcam stream of us while we game, we're going to attempt to stream the game screen too. I've tested this a few times, and so far haven't been able to find a site that my computers can handle streaming the game at a decent speed, but we'll keep trying. If we have to point the webcam at the computer screen, then so be it! You'll also be able to use the chatroom to talk to us as we game, with other Parlé members moderating and monitoring the chats throughout the day.
Please note, there is a significant chance we will be swearing during these streams. I myself am a very... vocal gamer, when things start going wrong. Bear this in mind when watching! We will try and keep it reasonably clean, if possible.
HOW CAN YOU, OUR WATCHERS, HELP?
We will be allowing a select number of donators game alongside us for a period of time! The top ten donators to donate before the 1st April will be guaranteed a gaming spot with us (assuming you have Left4Dead2 or Portal 2 on Steam, or Minecraft with Hamachi. Your system also needs to be good enough to support online gaming!) for a minimum period of 30-60mins. We'll also be randomly selecting another 10 donators who will also get the chance to game with us!
When you have made your donation on the website, you will get the option to add a message and your name, on a screen like this:
Please fill in your name in a similar manner to how I have, so it's easier to contact you!
HOW DO WE DONATE?
You donate by visiting this link: [link]
Donations are made securely via the Just Giving website, and are done via credit card or paypal. If you do not have a credit/debit card or paypal account, please ask a friend or parent if they'd be willing to donate on your behalf!
Our supporters in the UK can also donate via text message! You merely need to text the code "PARL99" and the amount you want to donate to 70070 (minimum £1) and you're done! Your text would basically read:
To: 70070
PARL99
£1
It's as easy as that! Remember, if you're in the UK and pay tax, you can also Gift Aid your donation to make it go further!

I personally think that it's great that you guys are doing this fundraiser~! I have Asperger's Syndrome/autism, ADHD, ASPD, and Tourettes Syndrome, so I approve of the idea behind this charity.
