I just suffered shock at advice I saw being given to a convention goer of how to keep her energy levels up while at a convention...
- Hold soda in your mouth for a few seconds before swallowing it, as your mouth absorbs the sugars quicker
- Drink OJ with sugar added to it
- Honey sticks
Basically, the advice given was "SUGAR, AND LOTS OF IT!"
I don't know what people are taught about health in the USA, but clearly it's VERY different to the UK. People, PLEASE don't live on sugar at a convention! Not only is it bad for your teeth, but bad for your health, and it's NOT the best source of energy there is!
Eating regularly and healthily, especially wholemeals, will provide you with a much healthier and long-lasting source of energy. Sure, you may get a brief rush from a Red Bull, but you'll have a crash as well. I know none of us take the best care of ourselves at cons, but at least TRY to get in a decent breakfast, lunch and dinner. And drink plenty of water!!
And definitely don't advocate an "all sugar" diet to others. Pocky and Monster are not meals.
