Darth Talon - Revamped by KellyJane Darth Talon - Revamped by KellyJane
It's been quite some time since I last wore Darth Talon.

Those who remember this costume may also remember that I wore her with a lycra suit. I've always felt a little insecure with showing too much skin, and the zentai was a good compromise on that. However, this weekend at LFCC, I decided to test my boundaries. So, armed with some rubbish snazaroo and a big can of hairspray, I went to the con.

I was VERY lucky to have a lovely lady called Kyrie, who is a tattooist and makeup artist, help me immesely with the bodypainting. Despite working with Snazaroo (which I hate), she managed to get it on reasonably evenly, and her work on the black tattooing was perfect! She followed me most of the day to keep an eye on the paintwork, touching it up as needed.

The result.... was this! I have NEVER felt better about my body than I did when wearing this. Thanks to Kyrie's patience and skill with makeup, and Darren Rowley's wonderful photography skills, I felt amazing all day. I am still amazed that I wore it without the suit, and even more amazed at how happy I felt walking around in so little!

So yes, this has been my most daring, and now possibly my most loved, costume to date!

Photography by Darren Rowley , with a little editing by me on the saber and headpiece.

You know, when it comes to cosplays like this, a lot of my friends bitch about the body paint.
They say it's a pain to put on, or it gets on everything, but I seem to find others who wear it, no problem, and somehow manage to salvage their costumes.
So I'm wondering, is it the brand you use? Or are some people just better at handling it than others?
I wanted to do a Marceline cosplay at some point, but was skeptical about using the body paint for it. So now I'm caught between wanting to cosplay this perfectly, or forget it entirely. But my perfectionist tendencies are going to nag at me big time.
It's almost like fruitcake. Some people swear it is a brick of pure satan, but others swear it can be good.

It all comes down to skill and practice. I used to think Snazaroo was a pile of crap. I'd avoid it wherever I could, because it always gave me problems...

But this was done entirely in Snazaroo, with the help of a professional makeup artist. I quickly learned that while it is true that some products are better than others, it also comes down to skill and practice! It's still not my first choice of paint, but I now know how to use it far better than before!

I can see that!! And I am far to envious of that, in fact.
I tried one time, ONE TIME with the body paint, put it only on my left arm, and it was like, this weird kelly green color.
I swear to all things made of cheese in this world, anything I touched turned that god awful shade of green.
A part of me wants to try that snazaroo suff,
but the nightmares of that green hell... I dunno. Maybe I'll give it a shot.
